Ask an Expert

STUMPED?

If you’ve come across a track or sign that for the life of you, you can’t figure out, then here is your opportunity to get some expert opinions on it. Make sure your picture is clear, big enough and has something that can be used as a scale. We don’t accept images anything over 150kb, so crop the unnecessary bits or reduce the whole image and send it as a JPG file. Remember to tell us where you saw the track (the nearest big town will help), whether it was on a nature reserve where extralimital species might occur and any other information you feel is important.

TIP: if you take your picture from the opposite side of the track from the sun, the shadows will help highlight the track features

Jon Morgan

jonmorgan Jon is a Field Guide par excellance, having spent inordinate amounts of time searching for animals to show his demanding guests, he has frequently had to resort to scrounging around in the dirt with his tracker for signs of where one of the beasts might have ambled off to. Head Ranger of Londolozi and Guide Trainer are among his credentials. Later in life, after discovering that being a travel agent meant spending time in an office, he gave that up and now organizes and guides adventure trails and activities raising funds and awareness for conservation initiatives.
